Exposure of magnesium oxide boards to various conditions for extended durations

Evolving construction methods and an increased demand for materials with enhanced fire resistance have created a novel within the industry. In recent years, MgO boards become more widely used as solution to needs of modern construction. This paper explores behaviour magnesium oxide during exposure various temperatures high levels moisture. More than 1000 samples were prepared analysis laboratory test durations extended beyond 2 years. Findings indicate that chloride hydroxide hydrate phases well proportioned remained stable after conditions. Additionally, mechanical properties relatively unaffected by moisture durations. also based on oxysulphate cement are not susceptible ‘crying’ phenomenon. By correlating performance weather data it was possible ascertain would remain at least 33 years in-service in average UK location.
